I just love how one of my fabulous customers used my hand dyed red buttons in her wedding bouquet! I was thrilled when she left an appreciation photo along with her feedback........The red, blue and white themes, and the textures of the buttons and felt are so pretty together.............and the best part? Her bouquet will stay this pretty as a keepsake for years to come! Thanks so much "justreagan" for sharing your photo with me!

Ohhhh.....the lovely brown truck just stopped in front of my house, and dropped pound after pound of wonderful ribbon! I've never been so happy to see a cardboard box!

Some are old favorites...like this gorgeous MAY ARTS PINK CHECK GINGHAM RIBBON .....and some are brand new to the shop, and I'll photographing and listing them as soon as I can! They have a new yardage and price point....go check them out in my shop!

I am so excited about my new SHOP SECTION in my Little Red Cottage!!

More buttons..........unique ones, specialty buttons!! Great for sewing onto your handmade projects, and all sorts of other fun stuff!

Many of these translate really smoothly into scrapbooking too! Place into a flower center, place a row of them to create a border along the edge of your page. Use a shank remover to remove the ones with shanks and create nice flat backs to work with.

The shop section is still under construction....but go ahead, go take a peek!!

We have a bit of room for day timers on Friday or Sunday of our Getaway at the San Diego Scrap Inn from February 26-28, come join us for a fun day of scrapping!

Green Day Concert was AWESOME!!!!!!!!

Hubby took me to the GREEN DAY concert down at Viejas Arena in San Diego last night...........wow, wow, wow...what a show! He thought tickets were sold out, but he snagged two of them a couple of weeks ago...we thought we would way up in nosebleed...and we were...oh! those bleacher seats just do not leave much room.....but it's a great arena for a concert! How to use the Apple Green Vintage Trim while scrapping!

Recently, I used some of the Apple Green Vintage Beaded Trim on a scrapbook layout, and I thought you would like to see it!

This trim can get kind of roly poly on the layout, so I sewed it on with DMC floss, I laid out the trim along the bottom of the layout, used a paper piercer to punch two holes every inch or so...and the combined to sew...it's really quite hidden...and there are no adhesives showing!

So many uses for this awesome trim! Check it out, and it's friend, the AQUA color in my Etsy shop! Stock up for that home decor or sewing project!

Another scrapbook layout from our trip to the Big Island of Hawai'i! This one shows us at South Point, the Southernmost point in the US...it was sooo windy there, and barren, dried yellow grasses caught in the dark reddish brown lava flows, and the ocean was blue as a sapphire!

I used some of the items from my Little Red Cottage on this layout.....I used a flower tag (sadly, this one is out of stock at the moment!) but you can see the other four delicious colors available right now on the front page of my shop...just click HERE. Each tag has 12 to 14 layers of beautiful silk flowers just ready to be taken apart and made into lots of other flowers for your paper crafting..........or leave the entire handmade tag as is, and it's a wonderful addition to a gift bag, I have used them just like this, and they are a huge hit! Also.........you can see how I used the tiny orange posies in the centers of the other flowers....I just took a pair of tweezers, and rolled up their wire green stems into a swirly vine shape! For the big flower on the layout, I layered with some extras from my stash, and a nice chunky rhinestone!

My daughter and I get to hang out today!! Just the two of us, here she is with her brother and Dad a few weeks ago at a black sand beach at the south tip of Hawai'i......I'm thinking pedicures, lunch, and the mall....?? How does that sound? :)

The boy child just left with Dad to catch the train to Comic-Con down in San Diego....I think he is going to FLIP HIS LID!! I hope Dad remembered the camera!

I have new button packs to share with you guys!! Orange Paper Posies!! I love these petite flowers!

I just adore these sweet orange posies!! I just added to them to the shop a few minutes ago, you can find them by clicking right HERE.

Here is an example of what you can do with them......I tucked just two of these little paper flowers right next to the journaling area on this layout. I taped them down with a bit of Prima decorative tape.

I also used buttons, and 7Gypsies Vintage Ephemera from my shop...you can see the vintage piece right underneath the flowers, and the buttons all in a row.

I am so blessed............my hubby is taking the kids and I on a wonderful vacation beginning this Thursday......here is the kicker....hehe...the kids think we are going to Oregon...a gorgeous little state right above us, somewhere we have been before...and somewhere we have talked about going back to....BUT....my hubby got the "Let's search for a travel deal bug..." and instead we are going to...... Can you guess??? I can't give it away just yet...but I'll be back with lots of pretty photos by the end of the month! It's been killing me keeping this secret..........sigh!!!!

Color Me Miki Scrapbook Kit! "Surf City"

I loved this kit!! "Surf City" was such a joy to work with, so many pretty bright papers and embellishments, and yet, flip over the paper to just the right side, and you could really get a wonderful old time vintage beach look too. Loving the My Little Shoebox chipboard letters!! Here is a layout I created with the kit............my son and my nephew out in the warm sun at our favorite little spot at Carlsbad beach.....how spoiled are we? :)

I thoroughly enjoyed creating some luxe gift tags for my Little Red Cottage.....Just tie these sweeties onto the handle of a gift bag, and you are set to go to a birthday party or shower! I found some wonderfully colored shipping tags, and they are a great size, 6"x3", so there is plenty of room to do all the things I love to do...layer patterned paper, layered die cuts, fabric, ribbon, sewing on buttons....oh..Thank You, Miss Frog Feathers, aka Blonde Bettie, for showing me how to use my sewing machine to sew on buttons...wow, that was one terrific sewing lesson!! :)

Ok...........so how many of you were tired of coming through the front gate of the Little Red Cottage blog, and looking at the ORANGE RIC RAC over and over and over and over??? How did it become May? And not just May...but the MIDDLE OF MAY? Where is my time?? Who took it!? ;)

I solemnly promise to update more often........

So what is new at the Cottage?
INSPIRATION DESTASH KITS....I just have too much scrapbooking goodies to list one at a time...so I am going to be doing some kits....all coordinated and fun and ready to go! I love putting these together...I love mixing and matching up the colors...themes, etc...so much fun! Just grab one of these kits, your tools and adhesive..and you are READY TO GO...to a crop or your best bettie's house..anywhere! Speaking of Best Bettie's...check out the sweet blog post Erin wrote for me on her fabulous (and So Funny You Might Pee Your Pants Blog!)....after kindly letting me know it had been ALMOST TWO WEEKS SINCE I HAD POSTED TO MY BLOG!!! New button packs were stocked on the shelves of Little Red Cottage late last night, and they were going as fast as I could put them up!! :)

Check out the new packs: Wonderful creams, tans, and brown in CAFE LATTE.....always needed primary colors in PLAYGROUND (shown at left)......pretty peach colors in the PERFECTLY PEACH pack......did you just get your Easter photos printed? SPRING LEAVES...such pretty light green buttons......SWEET BERRY FARM...oh, a punchy collection of hot pink, light pink, blue and green buttons......my new current favorite! Check them all out in the button section of the shop! There are 22 different button packs to choose from right now! :)

Need to getaway from it all?!? My good friend Christi from FrogFeathers.etsy.com is having a Scrapbooking Retreat at the San Diego Scrap Inn on May 15, 16, and 17th! The San Diego Sscrap Inn is located in the North County/Escondido area, central to the San Diego, Orange County, and Inland Empire areas. Ohhh my.....a large box full of wonderful cotton ric rac goodness arrived at Little Red Cottage's door step this afternoon.......I knew when the guy in the Brown Truck did his little honk honk signal that something GOOD was waiting out there!

Check out the ribbon and trim section of the shop to see all the gorgeous restocked colors of jumbo ric rac and polka dot ribbon! Light pink, hot pink, denim blue, lime green, oatmeal, black, lavender and apple green!

Then check back soon.......because there just might be some brand new colors on the shelves......oh yeah.... hehe.... :)

We are celebrating the boy child's 7th birthday this weekend........the grab bags are full of whoopie cushions, big plastic bugs and other fun goodies--thank goodness...the dollar section of Target was just waiting and ready for a little boy's birthday! Everyone have a glorious weekend!!

Handmade Silk Flower Tags!

I had such a good time creating the tags to showcase the LOVELY silk flowers that came in recently.....I wanted something that would keep the dozen layers of silk petals in place, and be just as fun and useful as the flower itself...........voila! Manila shipping tags, some paint, and my sewing machine to the rescue....

Use these beauties as they are for a wonderful (and useful!) gift tag ....buy several different colors and mix and match the petals for all sorts of different looks on your next scrapbook layout, mini album, or collage artwork project. Each set of flower petals is only attached to the tag with a brad, so they are easily removed for other projects..........................the garden is definitely blooming behind the picket fence at Little Red Cottage! :)

I'm still enjoying Spring Break immensely here...just such a lovely break from the homework-filled evenings, and some of the taxi service I provide for my daughter! Whew!

I am loving the new Scrap FX Chipboard Die Cuts I just got in.....they are a wonderful company from the land down under...our lovely Australian neighbors. The die cuts are all so wonderfully detailed, and relevant for fun trends going on right now in the paper crafting world. It was really hard to choose! But make a choice I did, and you can see what I ended up with in the Scrapbook Embellishments shop section of my Little Red Cottage.

I Started Spring Break with some CREATIVITY.....

..........and good times with fun friends...and the most incredible potluck I have ever taken part in!! Yay! :)

Here is one of the layouts I created last night.......it was *mostly* with the super cool items to be found in one of Color Me Miki's April kits...to be released on 3/31...but I did digress on this one, I added some lovely GIRL FRIDAY from COSMO CRICKET on it....happy happy happy...LOVE LOVE LOVE that chipboard sheet....and sewing (of course!) and buttons.....this is a photo of Kristina holding her flower bouquets from her 8th grade promotion last June....she loved her flowers...and figures, we left for our family vacation the day after....so I took photos...knowing the flowers would not look so hot when we got back! ;)

I did some other yummie layouts, and a very "green" little mini album with the April Kit......I'll be posting more after my girl Terri releases the kit for the entire paper crafting world to see! ;)

Scrap Fx Chipboard Die Cuts ......now available at Little Red Cottage!

This was one of my most anticipated orders from the tradeshow back in January....Scrap FX has the coolest naturally colored chipboard embellishments.....ever!! :)

It was hard to choose, they literally have 100s of great choices, but I finally settled on trees, apples, owls, birds, butterflies, cogs/gears (for the guys!), and bees and a few other goodies........go check them out in the Scrapbook Embellishment Section of the cottage!

Pictured is the "Medium Tree". (I saw the coolest layout with one of these trees in the Sassafras Lass booth...oh joy...I need to scrap soon!)
